ART JOURNEY – New Collection of Swatch
Swiss brand Swatch and it’s collection of wristwatches has always been known for its diversity and distinctive style. The Art line, founded in 1985, is particularly renowned for its unique artistry. Swatch continues to collaborate with world-famous museums such as the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam, the Thyssen-Bornemisza National Museum in Madrid, the Musée du Louvre and Centre Pompidou in Paris, and the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA).
The Swatch pieces created in collaboration with MoMA are now part of the brand new ‘Art Journey’ collection, which promises an unforgettable adventure for art enthusiasts. The collection was released worldwide on March 16, and two ‘Art Journey’ models are available for purchase at the Arttime network in Georgia.
MoMA and Swatch are celebrating the 100th anniversary of the birth of Roy Lichtenstein, the father of Pop Art and one of the most influential artists of the 20th century. As part of the celebration, Swatch has released two wristwatch models adorned with outstanding works of the artist, as mentioned above.
“Girl” – Roy Lichtenstein
Lichtenstein’s ‘Girl’ is a painting from 1963 that features a close-up of a young woman’s face. The painting is executed in Lichtenstein’s signature style, which incorporates the use of Ben-Day dots, a technique popularised in comics for creating shading and textures. The bright, basic colors and clear lines of the painting perfectly capture the woman’s features.
Thanks to a collaboration between the museum and Swatch, this iconic work by Lichtenstein will now be featured on the dial of a wristwatch.
“Reverie” – Roy Lichtenstein
Roy Lichtenstein’s ‘Reverie’ is a prime example of the artist’s ability to draw inspiration from popular culture and transform it into a visually striking and emotionally resonant work of art.
This iconic work by Lichtenstein has been beautifully translated onto a Swatch wristwatch. The girl’s yellow hair perfectly matches the colour of the bracelet, and the famous text is also featured on the band.
The combination of Swiss quality and Lichtenstein’s timeless works of art creates a wonderful synergy that will appeal to watch lovers and art enthusiasts alike.
